Welcome to Ken's Pianos Blog
Hello. My name is Ken Smith. I am a Certified Piano Technician. Ken's Pianos is in Spring, TX. I serve the entire Houston Metro area as well as South Central TX in Victoria, Cuero, Yoakum, Hallettsville, Edna, El Campo, Sealey, Columbus, and towns in that general area..
In this blog I plan of offering something of interest to pianists of all types, whether you are a beginner or an advanced pianist. Topics will range far and wide. One thing I will do often is post updates on the current restoration projects I am working on in my shop. You will also see articles about how pianos work, what makes a good piano, how to buy a used piano, history of certain piano makers, and on and on and on... You get the idea. If you subscribe you will get notifications of new postings.
Additionally, I will keep a presence on Social Media. I will be posting videos of certain aspects of piano service and restoration on YouTube and Instagram. You can find me on all social media by my username, which is kenspianos for all services.
Ultimately, I want these pages to contain information that my followers find interesting. If there is a topic you would like to see covered, just send me a note and I'll do my best to accommodate.
I believe that it would be nice if my customers could learn a little about what I'm referring to when I say that I need to regulate your piano, for example. The more knowledgeable a pianist is about his/her instrument, the more rewarding the piano experience will be. I'll use this blog as an avenue to provide just such information.
So long for now. Please check back soon. I am about to begin a restoration on a 1894 Chickering and Sons upright piano that should be very interesting. The piano is a relic and has seen better days, so by the time I am done with it, I expect that it will have been completely disassembled and rebuilt, so if you want to learn a little about how your piano works, it should be an interesting series of posts to follow. First blog entry on the restoration is coming soon!
